About Liittymä
Liittymä is a club for students interested in transportation and logistics at Tampere University. The club is a associated with Tampere Student Union TREY.
The name Liittymä translates to “junction”, reflecting the fact that the club brings together students from three different departments: Civil Engineering, Industrial Management and Information Management and Logistics. Currently most of the members are studying civil engineering and the member count is 30–40. All interested students at Tampere University are welcome to join the club. Other people and organizations can join the club as supporting members.
The club was founded in the spring of 2010 and since then Liittymä has organized several transportation and logistics themed excursions and other activities. So far the most remarkable event has been a field trip to Hamburg and Bremen in 2013.
Since 2011 Liittymä has also arranged an annual expert panel discussion on a current transport related topic, open to the students of TUT and
general public. So far the topics have been the following:
Liittymä cooperates with Verne Transport Research Centre at Tampere University, so the club members have oppoturnities to participate in doing transport
research from simple traffic counting to brainstorming sessions and workshops. Thanks to the cooperation with Verne, the members of Liittymä also have annual possibilities to visit a seaport, an airport, a logistics terminal and a traffic management centre.
